Somatic Body-Centered Therapy

I am an advanced student of Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing, and I am certified in Somatic EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which layers somatic wisdom into traditional EMDR. Both of these modalities are used to renegotiate stress and trauma in the body. Our survival strategies serve us brilliantly, however for many of us they are activating all the time, and draining much of the joy and “juice” from or lives. Somatic Experiencing and Somatic EMDR support clients to shift those patterns that once made sense but no longer serve.

Simple practices from the somatic lens can transform your relationship with your nervous system over time. Outcomes can include experiencing more balance, aliveness & vibrancy, experiencing less reactivity, and physical symptoms subsiding. The process involves learning to notice body sensations and building awareness of the messages our bodies are constantly communicating. As these understandings become a natural part of your life, you can alleviate the physical and emotional impacts of acute or chronic stress and trauma, including historical trauma.
